Article Submission : Some Facts to Consider

Article submission is being proclaimed as the new method to get quick & easy web site traffic, & to boost your search engine positioning, but does it really work or is it another SEO version of the “get rich quick” scheme?

In some circumstances & for small websites in niche markets, article submission might achieve some degree of success, but ultimately long term SEO success will achieve much more.

In a similar way that some SEO Companies offer a directory submission service, there are others who offer an article submission service with the claims that it will boost your websites search engine positioning & will drive unbelievable volumes of internet traffic to your website. There is also software available to do the submitting for you, in much the same way.

But does article submission really work?

The idea with articles is that you write a small article (obvious huh?), which has a link back to your website. The article can be used as content on other peoples websites for free, the idea being that you pick up visitors from their website traffic, plus obtain useful backlinks via Google, Yahoo!, & other search engines.

In some cases it is pretty certain that article submission can deliver traffic to your website, but it has to be met with the usual caveats that you can probably guess.

An article will only be useful in driving traffic to you if it is well written, has useful content, is original, & actually gives some benefit to the reader.

What tends to happen is that people write a poorly worded article without a clearly useful topic, & it is full of me, me, me advertising, which really isn’t very much use at all.

It all comes back down to the sad fact that there is no free SEO ride that has long term benefits, & unless you naturally excel at writing useful, informative articles that will get picked out from amongst the thousands that are produced daily, & you can churn them out at a fair old lick, then it probably won’t achieve a great deal of useful results for you.

You’d perhaps get better results using the old press release trick, but since that has an ephemeral effect, & is probably cheating, we wouldn’t recommend that either.
